Levels A1 & A2

Beginner French classes online (A1–A2)

Build a solid base in French: clear pronunciation, the grammar that everything else depends on, and the vocabulary you use every day in Canada.

What you learn at A1

A1 is about getting comfortable with the sounds and structure of French. You learn to introduce yourself, talk about your work and family, ask simple questions, understand numbers, dates and prices, and fill in basic forms.

  • Pronunciation and the French sound system
  • Present tense of regular and key irregular verbs
  • Articles, gender and agreement
  • Questions, negation and everyday phrases

What you learn at A2

A2 takes you from single sentences to short conversations. You describe past events, make plans, write simple messages and follow slow, clear speech on familiar topics.

  • Passé composé and imparfait
  • Near future and simple future
  • Pronouns, comparisons and connectors
  • Short emails, descriptions and phone conversations

Why the basics matter for PR

Learners who rush A1–A2 usually hit a wall at B1, where TEF and TCF tasks begin. A clean foundation in grammar and pronunciation makes the path to NCLC 7 shorter, not longer.
